“Lola” by Erika Lynne Jones
Lola is the fourth of four characters I created in the book proposal I’m working on about organic baby care. She is the lively one in the a bunch. A single mom by choice, she and her son have recently moved closer to her parents so that she can also pursue the career she knows she deserves. She has stumbled upon a sisterhood of friends, Evelyn, Nancy and Gabrielle and they provide her with so much support.
I created Lola with a similar process as the other characters. Since I decided to work in a limited color palette I decided Lola’s bubbly personality could handle having a fusion of all the colors (pink, blue and green) in her outfits and surroundings. Below is a photo of the original painting of Lola.
Now that she’s done. I’ve put her into the proposal along with my other character sketch and now it’s time to polish. Stay tuned for more updates on this project. My dream of dreams would be to find an agent to help me get the book out into the world. We will see what in store as I take these next steps…
