Happy New Year! In 2017 I really want to improve my handwriting both in script and print. My 3rd and 4th grade school teacher mother used to cringe when I abandoned beautiful lettering for speed. For me it was all about getting stuff done. And with this 1st attempt to follow a lettering challenge. I can see this is all about slowing down, re-learning the letter forms and practice.
By the way I’m following along with Random Olive’s brush lettering challenge this month #brushletterpracticechallenge. Joining the challenge is free, but she offers printable practice sheets for each day’s word on her website. The words on the left are the one’s I traced over and the one’s on the right are my attempts. Hopefully with practice, they’ll start to look more alike.
I love that the theme is Positivity. I am all about words and these words speak to me! If I’m able I’ll share a little inspiration from my morning meditation on the word. Here is what Whole means to me:
Whole
I am whole.
I am complete
I don’t have to look outside myself for answers, permission or assurance.
I am full of answers about myself and my journey.
I give myself permission to follow my dreams.
I assure myself that God is within me and loves me and has deemed me worthy.
I am worthy of Love, Goodness and Mercy.
I am whole.

This meditation was timely for me. I was tempted to sign up for more drawing challenges for the new year. Did I mention that I love courses and challenges? It doesn’t make sense for a girl who who claims she didn’t like being in school. But I LOVE learning from others. However this word reminded me that I have plenty of “assignments” and inspiration coming from within that needs to be expressed. With a busy schedule I must carefully choose my commitments. This year I’m committed to making time to express what’s coming from within and therefore I must balance how much I seek external knowledge and validation. Because I am what? I am whole.
By the way if you are into words. I am hosting a FREE, Live Sister-Friend Chat on Youtube this Thursday, January 5 at 7 pm CT. I’ve been choosing a Word of the Year for the last three years and a friend said she wanted to know more about how to choose a word. So I’m inviting you to join us.
